About Us

The Chin Youth Organization of Kansas (CYOKS) is a local chapter of the Chin Youth Organization of North America (CYONA), a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. CYOKS is committed to empowering Chin youth through leadership, cultural pride, and unity. Built on faith and purpose, CYO Kansas serves as a platform for young Chin individuals to grow, lead, and make a meaningful impact in the community and beyond.

The Chin people are an ethnic group originally from Chin State in western Myanmar (Burma), as well as parts of India and Bangladesh. Known for strong Christian values, rich cultural traditions, and a resilient spirit, many Chin families have resettled in the United States due to political unrest and persecution in Myanmar.

Today, over 3,000 Chin people live in Kansas, with a growing and vibrant presence in Wyandotte County. CYOKS continues to support this community by creating pathways for youth to preserve Chin heritage while stepping into leadership roles that uplift the entire community.

CYOKS is proudly affiliated with the Chin Youth Organization of North America (CYONA), working alongside Chin youth organizations across the U.S. and Canada to strengthen unity, share resources, and amplify the voice of Chin youth on a national level.

Vision:
To empower confident and compassionate Chin youth who are prepared to lead, serve, and uplift their communities.

Mission:

To provide Chin youth with opportunities for growth through education, leadership development, cultural pride, and community service.
